The Christmas Tag

Wednesday, 3 December 2014

It's finally December, and Christmas has officially begun - 3 doors of my advent calendar are open, Christmas playlist is on repeat and shopping is well underway. Christmas is my favourite time of year, I love everything about it.

When I saw this Christmas tag over on Emma's blog, A Little Freckle, (cutest name ever) I just had to do it. If you're a Christmas fan then go right ahead and get involved -I tag any one who wants to answer these festive question and let me know if you do, I'd love to read your answers!

1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?
I'm a massive girly girl when it comes to Christmas films (or most films really), so Love Actually and The Holiday are two I love to settle down with and watch to make me feel all warm and fuzzy and Christmassy.

That said, if there's a cup of tea, a candy cane to nibble on and a blanket, I'll watch any Christmas film because that's what December is for!

2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
Always Christmas day, although not necessarily the morning.
My mum is a nurse so sometimes works Christmas morning so we wait for her to get home before unwrapping.

On a few occasions, me and my sisters have managed to convince our parents to let up open one present when it hits midnight, but now we're all grown up we don't really mind waiting, it's all part of the excitement.

3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
I don't really have one particular stand out memory, but I'm fond of our stocking tradition. First thing in the morning, me and my two sisters would grab our stockings (that Father Christmas had put on the end of our beds, obviously) and go and open them sat in my parents bed. This is something that continued to the point where we all couldn't fit in the bed, turning it into a race for bedspace.

4. Favourite festive food?
Pigs in blankets for sure. Although I am partial to some honey roasted parsnips. (absolutely no sprouts will be consumed)

5. Favourite Christmas gift?
All of them, it's the thought that counts! Though my twin sister pulled it out of the bag last year with a hand-knitted Gryffindor scarf accompanied with a letter from Mrs Weasley.

6. Favourite Christmas scent?
Christmas tree! There's nothing more Christmassy than the smell of the tree surely. Though I do currently have a mince pie candle that smells amazing!

7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
Not really, just a Christmas film. Though when we were little my dad used to get us out of the house, bribed with the promise of McDonalds. In the meantime, my mum got the presents down from the loft where they were hidden, so they wouldn't risk waking us up later on.

8. What tops your tree?
A star

9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
I don't think I desperately wanted anything crazy because I can't think of anything right now. We were never allowed pets so although I'm sure we asked for them, we knew we wouldn't ever get one.

10. What's the best part about Christmas for you?
All of it. The build up (advent calendars!), spending time with family, the food, the decorations and the twinkling lights, buying gifts, wrapping gifts, Christmas films, Christmas songs, Christmas TV. Everything!

And I'm going to add another question that I feel really needs to be asked...

11. Favourite Christmas Song
Christmas (Baby please come home)

Christmaaas, the snows coming down, Christmaaas, I'm watching it fall...
